The mission of DCDT is to promote national and international efforts to improve the quality of and access to career vocational, and transition services for individuals with exceptionalities, across the life span. DCDT believes that:
the career development and transition process assumes and requires interdisciplinary and interagency collaboration, and new connections among parents and professionals in education, community services, and employment sectors.
Education and Training in Developmental Disabilities
Education and Training in Developmental Disabilities (ETDD) focuses on the education and welfare of persons with mental retardation/developmental disabilities. ETDD invites research and expository manuscripts and critical review of the literature. Major emphasis is on identification and assessment, educational programming, characteristics, training of instructional personnel, habilitation, prevention, community understanding and provisions, and legislation. ETDD is the official journal of the Division on Developmental Disabilities of The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
Exceptional Children
Insightful, pioneering research, topical issues, and broad perspectives by leaders in the field for more than 65 years has made Exceptional Children (EC) the most respected scholarly journal in special education. This peer review journal publishes original research on the education and development of toddlers, infants, children, and youth with exceptionalities and articles on professional issues of concern to special educators. EC is an official quarterly publication of The Council for Exceptional Children.
Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation
The Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation provides a forum for discussion and dissemination of information about the major areas that constitute vocational rehabilitation. Periodically, there are topics that are directed either to specific themes such as long term care or different disability groups such as those with psychiatric impairment. Often a guest editor who is an expert in the given area provides leadership on a specific topic issue. The emphasis is on publishing rehabilitation articles that have immediate application for helping rehabilitation counselors, psychologists and other professionals in providing direct services to people with disabilities. Original research articles, review articles, program descriptions, and case studies are all published.
Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities
Research and Practice for Persons with Severe Disabilities (RPSD / JASH) is a quarterly journal published by TASH. It emphasizes articles that report original research, authoritative and comprehensive reviews, conceptual and practical position papers that offer new directions, and effective assessment and intervention methodologies and service delivery model program descriptions. RPSD also publishes short, thought-provoking articles that present the author's views on important issues in the field. The Exchange includes thoughtful perspectives on current controversies or new developments in practice and research, responses to articles published in RPSD and other sources, and personal reflections about the author's experiences as a participant in the disability field.
TASH Connections
The monthly news magazine, Connections, is full of information to help you to stay abreast of best practices, family concerns, events and opportunities in a changing political environment. The provocative articles provide information about the very latest developments in the disability field and will challenge you to rethink some of the toughest issues affecting people with disabilities, their families and advocates. Connections is a publication of TASH.
TEACHING Exceptional Children
TEACHING Exceptional Children (TEC), an official publication of the Council for Exceptional Children, is published specifically for teachers and administrators of children with disabilities and children who are gifted. TEC features practical articles that present methods and materials for classroom use as well as current issues in special education teaching and learning. TEC also brings its readers the latest data on technology, assistive technology, and procedures and techniques with applications to students with exceptionalities. The focus of its practical content is on immediate application.
